Sleep Disorders

Are you looking for natural ways to treat sleep disorders; either your insomnia, sleep apnea or narcolepsy? Not a problem! I will be more than happy to assist you with this.

Insomnia

For starters, let’s explore some natural treatments for insomnia. There are many different things you can do to help alleviate the symptoms of this sleep disorder. Chamomile is an herb that is a common cure for insomnia. It’s considered to be safe by the FDA as it doesn’t any known negative side effects. Drinking Chamomile tea can be a great way to help you drift off to sleep at night. Having a little relaxation time before bed can also help with insomnia. Taking a nice, long bubble bath or laying in bed while reading a book are both excellent ways to relax. Some people find doing a little yoga before bedtime to be quite relaxing.

If you’re not quite sure how to do yoga, there is a wide array of excellent yoga DVD’s available both online and at your local stores. Others find prayer or meditation to be a great way to unwind and relax after a long, busy day. Because TV’s and computers can be quite stimulating, it’s best to turn them off at least an hour or two before you plan to go to bed. Regular exercise has been proven to help promote good sleep. Therefore, it you’re not already exercising on a regular basis, you may want to start doing so right away. However, most experts do advise people not to exercise late at night as exercise can be stimulating, and it can take awhile for the effects of it to wear off. If you exercise earlier in the day though, it can work wonders in helping you to fall asleep at night easily.

Sleep Apnea

Perhaps you’re suffering from sleep apnea. If so, I’m very sorry to hear this. However, I assure you that there are many excellent treatments for this sleep disorder that you can try. Losing weight can often be an effective way to cure sleep apnea. This is because losing weight helps to open the airway passages up more which in turn allows you to breathe more easily. You should know that even losing just a small amount of weight can make a big difference. Also, if you have sleep apnea you should avoid sleeping on your back. The reason for this is that sleeping in this position can sometimes cause your tongue to fall back into the airway. This can then cause an obstruction which makes it more difficult for you to breathe correctly.

Narcolepsy

Maybe you’re having problems with narcolepsy. Fortunately, there are a wide variety of nutritional supplements out there that can help with this particular sleep disorder. Chromium helps by supporting proper energy production. Also, in order for the nervous system to function properly, both Calcium and Magnesium are essential. Therefore, taking supplements of these nutrients can be very helpful.
